Jill Robinson is the Canadian Authors Association Southern Alberta Representative. She will be in Red Deer on November 7 for the Reader’s Series presented by Red Deer College and has kindly agreed to stay an extra day so she can join us at Writer’s Ink on Tuesday, November 8 at our regular meeting.
Prior to her tenure with the CAA, J. Jill Robinson served as a writer in residence at the Saskatoon Public Library, Red Deer College, St. Peter’s Abbey (Saskatchewan Writers Guild), the Alexandra Writers Centre, RISE Network, the Wheatland Library (Kerrobert SK).
J. Jill Robinson is the author of four collections of stories, the most recent of which is Residual Desire. Her work, which has appeared in many Canadian literary journals, has won the Prism International fiction contest, Event’s creative nonfiction contest (twice), 2 Western Magazine Awards, 2 Saskatchewan Book Awards and the Howard O Hagan Prize for short fiction (Alberta).
Writer’s Ink members are asked to bring 1 to 2 pages of work so we can share with Jill in a Writer’s Circle. In a Writers’ Circle writers share their work for oral feedback and writerly camaraderie. The feedback given is intended to help make the piece better, to try to see what the author is doing, and to help them do it.
Reader’s Series – For those wishing to attend, Jill will be reading in the North Nook of the Red Deer College Library on Monday, November 7 at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free.
